Unable to Create Output File and Finish Applying Update
Possible Cause: The most
likely cause for an Update not being able to unzip is someone still in Active
Accounting or in some cases your Operating System itself is mistaken in
reporting a file ‘open’ or ‘in-use’.
Solution: In the first case
look for a user still using the Active Application or an unattended workstation
with an Active Application running in the foreground or background. Then exit
the application and retry the update. In the latter case what you can try is to
power your workstations down in an orderly fashion (close all programs 1st) and
if just doing that doesn't help, do the same to the server. Then, restart
the server. Start just the one workstation you are using to run the update and
try to unzip again. If this doesn't work try downloading the update again
from the web site. It may have been a bad download and thus unable to
unzip itself.
Possible Network or
Security related Issues:
Active Applications may need to create, modify and delete both files and
folders from time to time as a normal part of what it does which is processing
information. Network and Security Properties must not be set so stringent
that Active Applications can’t perform its’ functions without
impediments. Otherwise errors will result. Difficulty with running
updates can occur. As an example, the “Read Only” property which can be set is
generally not a good status for most anything residing in the Active Accounting
folder. When in doubt about these kinds of issues contact your Network
support person directly, as they will know what your settings are or will be
able to detect what those settings are, and be able to make any necessary
adjustments to them.
